The Carrier Board unlocks the complete capabilities of our Feather SoMs. Designed to seamlessly integrate with a range of expanding modules, our carrier board provides access to various interfaces, expanding your possibilities for connectivity and functionality.

The board exposes the following features on it:

  • Feather socket for easy placement of the Feather SoMs
  • 4D Systems Display port for the GEN4-ULCD-24D for which we have provided mounting holes, but compatible with any of the GEN4-ULCDS sizes if it's needed.
  • A rotary encoder with 2 directions and a button press and a RGB Neopixel above it for user interaction.
  • SD Card Slot for the SDHI pins of the RZ/A3UL and RA8M1 Feather SoMs.
  • 5v 3A and 3v3 3A regulated power supplies from an XT30 5-24V.
  • ON - OFF button cutting the XT30 power supply.
  • Qwiic Connect System - I2C port.
  • 4 Expansion Ports for compatible modules detailed below.

Compatible Modules

The Carrier Board features four expansion ports, each supporting 2x6 2.54mm pin headers.
Each port provides access to multiple interfaces and configurable power supply options (3.3V, 5V, or VIN).

Port configuration:

The power supply voltage for each port can be independently selected between 3.3V, 5V, or VIN.

Dynamixel motor driver module

The breakout exposes a TTL communication with daisy chain features to help build small robots easily using the Dynamixel XL series motors.

Particle M-SoM breakout module

The breakout does not include the M-SoM that can be bought separatly on the Particle website.

The B-Series System-on-a-Module (SoM) is a LTE Cat 1 cellular device with support for BLE (Bluetooth LE). It is based on the Nordic nRF52840 microcontroller.

Ethernet module

The Ethernet module is based on the W5500 controller, which provides complete TCP/IP networking capabilities with 10/100 Ethernet MAC and PHY.

CAN module

The CAN module is based on the NCV7344 high-speed CAN FD transceiver that enables robust communication between CAN controllers and physical buses, supporting data rates over 1 Mbps with wake-up capability.
